Brigitte Strachan

Born on 1st August 1941 and originally coming from Fallingbostel, Germany; Brigitte eventually moved to Scotland. She became a household name, as she was the reason country music lovers across the country knew exactly where to be on what date.  In 1988 she came up with her brainchild; the CMDS Magazine, Country Music and Dance in Scotland.  She diligently updated with socials, club nights and events. Tweaking details every month, ensuring that everything was as it should be, she sent magazines out to every club that requested for them to sell on to us patiently waiting dancers and listeners alike hoping to get our fix of country music! 

As fairy tales always go, Brigitte met her knight in shining armour; Danny.  They married on 17th October 1992 and started their life together, along with Brigitte and Danny's children, they lived a happy life in Scotland. 

Not yet feeling fulfilled or busy enough, Brigitte and Danny took their love of country music to the next level and started a Country Music Club, The White Horse CWC. The club moved venue over the years, but settled down in the 48 Social Club, Kilwinning where Brigitte took on her protégé, Stephen McKenna.  Stephen assisted her with the running of the club and started to introduce line dancers to this wonderful family.  Over time Brigitte stepped away from the daily running of the club due to health reasons and Stephen took over ensuring her other "baby" would grow and thrive.

Sadly, after a battle with Dementia, Danny passed away on the 26th December 2022.  Brigitte was heartbroken and had lost her soulmate.  This did not put her off looking after the country music scene in Scotland, as this was the person she was, always putting others first.  She continued the magazine and chased up organisers for their information to ensure we always knew what day it was!

In 2025, Brigitte was diagnosed with cancer and after a very short battle, she passed away peacefully on Wednesday 18th June.  She's with Danny once again at that big Country Music Festival in the sky, enjoying life and waiting for us all to be reunited and have that big ol' hoedown once again.

Rest easy Brigitte, you're job here is done.
